Artist statement
Mi trabajo artístico actual se centra de manera general en la pintura como disciplina, y
en diversos elementos relacionados con la cotidianidad como tema.
Objetos domésticos (cajas, biombos, objetos en suspensión como lámparas, objetos de
supermercados como envases o carros de la compra) y elementos domesticados (como
determinados tipos de plantas); estructuras y detalles arquitectónicos (tarimas, toldos,
columnas, techos, balizas y vallas de circulación) o estructuras estampadas (dibujos en
telas, en carteles, celosías u ornamentos), me interesan a la hora de utilizarlos como
recursos para el desarrollo de mi obra plástica.
Desde la realización en 2007 de mi proyecto de investigación de doctorado en la
Universidad Complutense de Madrid, bajo el título “Ausencia y presencia en la Naturaleza
Muerta Contemporánea”, la utilización de imágenes de objetos en mi obra que pudieran
ser propios de un tipo de naturaleza muerta actual se hizo más presente.
Una especie de naturaleza muerta contemporánea, que poco tiene que ver con la tradicional
salvo en su fundamento de representar objetos, intentando reinventarla de una manera
muy personal a través de la observación y el análisis del objeto contemporáneo.
Este interés por la representación del objeto contemporáneo en el que llevo trabajando
estos últimos años, se complementa en mis trabajos más recientes con la incorporación
de estructuras arquitectónicas, que añaden en muchos casos una dimensión espacial y
un juego de escalas a las imágenes.
A la hora de trabajar, suelo partir de un archivo de imágenes que he ido creando y que
voy ampliando y clasificando de manera continua, bien a través de la búsqueda programada
como a través del encuentro fortuito. Los objetos y estructuras que selecciono para mis
obras suelen ser elementos de nuestro entorno que muchas veces pasan desapercibidos
por su presencia constante, diaria, habitual a nuestro alrededor. Son elementos que me
interesan por diversos motivos plásticos y conceptuales, y los represento aislados, fuera
de su contexto, mezclados entre sí, superpuestos, los convierto en protagonistas en su
realidad ficticia.
El interés por el estudio de las posibilidades de la línea como elemento descriptivo primero,
básico, esencial, así como de proceso y de resultado final, es algo que me ha interesado
mucho en gran parte de mi obra reciente.

My current artwork generally focuses on painting as discipline, and in various items related
to everyday life as a theme.
Domestic objects (boxes, suspended objects as such lamps, objects of supermarket as
packings or shopping carts) and domesticated elements (such as certain types of plants);
structures and architectural details (daises, awnings, columns, fencing and traffic beacons)
or patterned structures (drawings in fabrics, on posters, lattices or ornaments), I am interested
to use them as resources to the development of my work.
Following the completion of my doctoral research project realized at Complutense University
of Madrid, entitled "Absence and presence in the Contemporary Still Life", the use of images
of objects at my work, which could be specific of a new kind of contemporary still life, has
become more prevalent. A kind of contemporary still life, but that has little in common with
the traditional except at its foundation of to represent objects, trying to reinvent it in a very
personal way through the observation and analysis of contemporary object.
This interest in the representation of contemporary object in which I have been working in
recent years, is complemented at my more recent work with the incorporation of architectural
structures, which add in many cases a spatial aspect and a dimensions game at my works.
When I am working, I usually work from an image file I've been creating and expanding and
classifying going continuously, either by programmed search through the chance encounter.
The objects and structures I select for my works are usually elements of our environment
that often go unnoticed by his constant presence, daily routine around us. These are elements
that interest me for various reasons, visuals and conceptual, and I represent it isolated, out of
context, mixed together, overlapping, turn them into characters in his fictional reality.
The interest for the study of the possibilities of the line as a descriptive basic, essential
element, of process, as well as of final result, is something in that I have been interested very
much partly of my recent work.
